HueFertility FAQ

We know at-home testing can feel overwhelming, so we’ve gathered answers to the most common questions about HueFertility. If you don’t see your question here, please reach out to us anytime at fertility@huedx.com or on Instagram @huefertility

Why type of background for the HueCard should I have?

HueFertility uses advanced color analysis to read your strip. Bright white or glossy countertops can sometimes reflect light in a way that confuses the test image. For best results:

  • Place your strip on the HueCard provided in your kit.

  • Avoid reflective surfaces as a background

  • Natural or even lighting (without strong shadows or glare) works best.

  • Ensure the background is semi consistent–don’t place us on a multicolored checkerboard or on top of your pile of last week’s mail!

What if the sticker on my strip falls off?

Each strip has a small max sticker. Sometimes, during shipping or handling, the sticker may loosen. If it falls off:

  • Your strip is still perfectly usable with simple repair, or you can contact us for replacement.

  • Place the sticker back on the strip, covering the thick red line, and leaving some space between the bottom of the sticker and the tip.

My photo looks foggy—what should I do?

Sometimes condensation, fingerprints, or even steam from a bathroom can make the phone camera lens foggy. If the app shows a blurry image:

  • Wipe your lens gently with a clean, dry cloth.

  • Move to a drier space if humidity is high.

  • Retake the photo after making sure the strip and background are in focus.

Why is the control line or test line missing on my strip?

A missing line usually means the strip didn’t run correctly. This can happen if:

  • The strip wasn’t dipped long enough (less than 20 seconds).

  • The urine sample didn’t reach the test window.

  • The strip was left in the urine too long.

If this happens, the result is invalid. Please repeat with a new strip and follow the instructions closely.

What does it mean when the timer maxes out?

Once you dip your strip and place it on the HueCard, the app automatically starts a timer. The test needs to be read within a specific window for accuracy. If the timer “maxes out”:

  • The strip has developed too long and can’t be accurately read.

  • You’ll need to repeat the test with a fresh strip.

Do not restart the timer and attempt to use the same strip.  Those will not be reliable results.

What is the best time to test my LH?

For most people, the best time to test for luteinizing hormone (LH) is between 10 AM and 6 PM. LH levels tend to surge later in the morning and afternoon, so testing at this time increases your chances of catching your peak.

Can I test my LH at different times of the day?

I’s best to test at the same time each day for consistency. LH levels can fluctuate throughout the day, so testing at different times may show slight variations that can make your results harder to interpret. If your schedule changes, just try to keep your testing window as consistent as possible.

How long should I hold my urine before testing LH?

You should aim to hold your urine for at least 2–3 hours before testing. This helps ensure the sample is concentrated enough to give accurate results. Try to avoid drinking large amounts of liquid during that time, since diluted urine can make LH harder to detect.

How long can my urine sample sit out before testing?

For the most accurate results, test your sample within 15 minutes of collection. After that, urine may start to degrade or evaporate, which can affect the test’s accuracy.

👉 Tip: Consistency is key. Always dip for the same amount of time and use the HueCard as directed—this ensures reliable results every time.
